Woman charged with killing children made past threats

Court records reveal the Louisville woman charged with killing her two children had threatened to do it on a previous occasion.

The records show that Gail Coontz called a crisis hotline in January of last year and threatened to kill herself and her son and daughter.

That call prompted an investigation by the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services.  But the records show the cabinet felt Coontz was not a risk to her children.

That's after they spoke with Coontz and her children and got a letter from her therapist.  That therapist called Coontz one of the best mothers the therapist had seen.

Police say Coontz killed her son and daughter in March.  She is now being held in Metro Corrections on $500,000 bail.
