Blood drive aimed at younger donors

A new law is aimed at attracting a new generation of blood donors.  Starting Tuesday, 16-year-olds in Kentucky can donate with a signed parental consent form.

Kentucky is one of 24 states with the law.  Tuesday afternoon, about 100 of Kentucky's Governor's Scholars will be among the first 16-year-olds to donate blood for the first time.

The Red Cross blood drive at two Tuesday afternoon is open to the public at Bellarmine University in Frazier Hall.

The blood drive will have live music and free concert passes to try and get younger donors.
