Man convicted of killing Clay City's police chief accepts plea deal

The man convicted of killing a small town Kentucky police chief has agreed to a sentence of life in prison.  But James Barnett could actually get out in 20 years.

That's because he accepted a penalty deal that gives him life in prison with the chance of parole.  Jurors found Barnett guilty Wednesday in the shooting death of Clay City Police Chief Randy Lacy.

Barnett was sitting in the back of Lacy's patrol car when he grabbed the chief's gun and shot him in the back of the head.
