Idol places Louisville into national spotlight

American Idol is putting Louisville in the national spotlight right now.  American Idol crews spent part of the morning shooting video of the lines around Freedom Hall.

Inside, they shot more for the episode that airs in January.  What was happening inside was top secret, but auditioners were instructed to learn two specific songs -- "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen and "Get Ready" by the Temptations.

Patrick Lynn, an American Idol producer, says, "We've always wanted to come to Louisville. Kentucky is a place we haven't been to yet, and that sort of our thing on Idol.  We want to start going to places we haven't been.  Louisville reached out to us, and so here we are."

And with all the people here for auditions, that is bringing money into the local economy, with people staying at hotels and eating at local restaurants.
