Radcliff business owner shot to death in his store

We're hearing first-hand what happened when a woman found the body of a man shot to death inside his Radcliff store.  Fox 41's Bennett Haeberle obtained the 911 tapes, and says one detail from that call is directing this investigation.

A customer found the body of the store owner inside Monday evening.  Authorities are now looking for a white car with a red passenger door they believe might be involved in this case.

Those who knew the store owner, Charles Dole, say that a recent attempted break-in prompted him to fear something else might happen.

56-year-old Charles Dole was found dead inside his store Monday evening.  Police say he died of a single gunshot wound.

Dole had been in business for less than a year, according to those who knew him.  Ronda Smith, whose daugther worked for Dole, says, "I just could believe that it's true.  I didn't want to believe that, and I still don't."

Det. Lt. Ralph Craig of the Radcliff Police Dept. says of Dole, "He did have the calls for service last week, where they may have been an attempted break-in, but we're still following up on that, as well."

Dole had called authorities within the past few weeks to report a break-in.  A woman whose daughter works for Dole said he told the young woman not to come back to work, because he feared something bad might happen.

Authorities say they have no suspects, but have interviewed persons of interest.  Ronda Smith and others say Dole was hoping to install surveillance cameras in his store this week.  The order had not come in.

Police are looking for a white vehicle with a red passenger door.  Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Radcliff Police.
