Ben Jones starred as "Crazy Cooter" in the popular TV series "The Dukes of Hazard."

But there's a lot more to Ben Jones's story than his television career.

It's the subject of a new book titled "Redneck Boy in the Promised Land."

A former congressman from Georgia, Jones earlier portrayed grease-covered garage owner Cooter Davenport on the early-1980s TV show Dukes of Hazzard.

Now Jones and his wife, Alma Viator, own the Cooter's Place museums in Nashville and Gatlinburg, Tenn.

They also stage Dukesfest, an annual Nashville gathering of Dukes fans.

He'll appear at Borders Books and Music on Shelbyville Rd at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 31st to sign copies of the new book.

For more information, call Borders at (502) 893-0133.
