LMPD officer suspended pending investigation

Louisville police have suspended an officer as part of an internal investigation into an alleged criminal matter.

Patrol Officer Kenneth Wynne has been placed on paid administrative leave and has been stripped of his police duties.

Wynne has been with LMPD for two and a half years and is now working a desk job.

The department's public integrity unit is looking into what it calls "serious allegations" against Officer Wynne.

"He's on administrative leave. His police powers have been suspended and he's working the desk. That does not mean he is guilty. It just means there are serious allegations and we have to do our due diligence because we are held to a higher standard and make sure we investigate that completely," said Lt. Col. Troy Riggs.

Metro Police would not elaborate on the details of the investigation, but said if a crime has occurred it will be pursued.

The findings of that internal investigation will eventually be handed to the chief.
