Blue River Bluegrass Band at the Bluegrass Music Festival

The Kentucky Bluegrass Music Festival is Friday, August 1st and Saturday, August 2nd at the Belvedere.

The Blue River Bluegrass Band will play Friday night at 7:15 p.m.

Blue River is a traditional bluegrass band from Kentucky.

Blue River has a traditional sound and performs mostly original material written by the band members with a perfect blend of old favorites thrown in.

he band holds the title of 2008 Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association International Band Champions.

Blue River has a CD titled Kentucky Girl and Me that was released in 2007 and is planning to release a second project in 2008.

Glenn Alford, leader of the group, loves traditional bluegrass influenced by all of the original bluegrass greats. He plays mandolin and sings lead and tenor vocals. He also writes most of the material for Blue River and has a knack for making a new song sound old.

Josh Richards plays guitar and sings lead and tenor vocals for Blue River, his skills are among the best in the business.

Billy Edlin handles the banjo duties and is without a doubt one of the most tasteful banjo players in Bluegrass.

Joel Whittinghill plays the fiddle for Blue River adding the soul to their sound.

Paula "Boggie" Alford, Glenn's wife, plays bass and sings some tenor vocals for the band.
