Residents rally to save a New Albany elementary

It's a grassroots effort to save a New Albany elementary school.  A group of parents from Silver Street Elementary have organized to keep the school open.  They say its one of two schools being considered for closing.

While registration is underway, the group has set up a booth outside the school asking people to sign petitions and buy T-shirts.  They have also put up 300 yard signs in the neighborhood.

Silver Street Elementary has been named an exemplary school for this year.

Kathy Ayres who has two children at the school is leading the effort.  She says she's been told that public meetings will be held in the fall and a decision won't come until later in the year.
