Indiana auctions off unclaimed property

From the valuable to the unusual, Indiana is auctioning off its unclaimed property.

Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter showed off some of the items available on the state's website.  Carter says less than 1% of unclaimed assets are tangible, physical items.

The majority are financial accounts that somebody may or may not have known about that haven't been touched in a number of years.

Nearly 13,000 items have not been claimed in nine southern Indiana counties.  As Carter explains, "In the past year we've had about $1.4 million in property claimed from southern Indiana counties, along the Ohio, but we've got a lot more than that.  We've got over $7 million of property that's been turned over to us by those same communities."

You can see if you have unclaimed properties or bid on items by going to the state's online auction at the News Link above.
