Summer vacation ends for Shelby Co. students

Its time to hang-up the swim suits and get out the study guides.  The summer vacation ended Wednesday for students in Shelby County.

It was back to the classroom for students at Simpsonville Elementary and other schools.  Enrollment in Shelby County is projected to be up this year to just over 6300 students at its ten schools.

Because of higher fuel costs this year, the school will no longer pick up the tab for some field trips.

Because of soaring fuel costs, the Shelby County school system has added $135,000 to its transportation budget.
