Some Mount Washingon businesses, homes evacuated after discovery of meth lab

Several Mount Washington businesses and homes are evacuated after chemicals used to make meth are found.

The Mount Washington Fire Department got the call Thursday afternoon about a suspicious plastic storage container found behind a business.

The Bullitt County Drug Task Force was called and determined it was a meth lab.

Mount Washington Police say the Drug Task Force had to take extra precautions, because this type of lab is extremely dangerous.   Officer Rebecca Troutman says, "When they first got here, they had to come back out.  It was enough that they've had to wear actual air tanks, more than just masks.  They needed air tanks when they went down there because the gas that this type of lab puts off can be deadly if it's breathed in."

Police say they believe the business where the container was found is not connected to the meth lab dump.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mount Wasington Police Department.
