Middletown Elementary celebrates 100th birthday

A Louisville elementary school is celebrating a birthday 100 years in the making.  Middletown Elementary School is honoring the school's 100-year anniversary.

The birthday bash was complete with music, fun, and of course, birthday cake.

The party was part of the traditional event that lets students meet their teachers and see their classrooms before school starts.  The school was Middletown's first public school.

Principal Patty Holladay says, "Middletown Elementary actually started as a four-room school house where it housed grades 1 through 12 and it's been remodeled about three different times, and this is the 100th year.  And so all year long we are going to do special things, and this is just the kick-off."

The event was also a chance for some of the younger kids to see what it would be like to ride the bus when they got older.
