New Albany/Floyd County teachers still without a new contract

About 12,000 New Albany Floyd County students head back to school on Wednesday.  Their teachers are still without a new contract.

Teachers rallied at New Albany High School hoping to get the administration's attention.  Dressed in orange t-shirts, more than 700 New Albany Floyd County teachers held signs Monday morning saying "Enough" and "Settle Now".

They held a rally before a back-to-school meeting.  They've been negotiating a new contract with the school administration since last October.  But no agreement has been reached.

On July 8, the administration says it offered teachers about a 2.3% increase on their salaries and extra curricular activities for this school year.  The union says teachers want 3%.

Many teachers have stopped volunteering their time for after-school and other extra-curricular activities in protest.

The administration says it will make all comments through its website, but says nothing has changed since last month.
