Giraffe at Louisville Zoo dies

A giraffe at the Louisville Zoo has died.  The giraffe named Zahara was three years old and had suffered from spinal difficulties all her life.

She was born at the Toledo Zoo in August of 2005.  Her neck condition was noticed right away -- it gave her neck a distinctive bend.

But Monday, Zahara was found lying on her side in her stall.  Zoo staff tried to get her to her feet, and when they could not, the decision was made to euthanize her.

A Zoo Curator called Zahara a "true sweetheart."
