Plans are moving forward on the Center City Project

Plans are moving forward on the Center City Project.  It's the shopping and entertainment complex planned for the so-called Water Company block along 3rd Street.

The Cordish Company, which developed 4th Street Live, has signed a deal with the city, promising to invest at least $200 million.

Part of the deal allows Cordish to ask the city to impose a 1% fee on food and beverages served at 4th Street Live and the new development.  But the mayor says it only gives Cordish the right to ask.

The mayor says he hopes the Center City Project can get started in the next year or so.
