Local fans continue to support Jeff GRC Little League

Fans who did not make it to Williamsport, Pennsylvania headed out to the Nachand Fieldhouse in Jeffersonville to support their home team.

Local fans had to move inside for Saturday morning's game, to avoid the sun's glare on the big screen.

It's a change of venue for those who gathered around River Stage Friday night anticipating a game that got rained out.

Tabatha Burrell was back Saturday morning to support her cousin on the team, Austin Hines.

"We need a win. If they don't win, they still got more games, but we're going to pull it out," said Burrell.

No win for the Jeff GRC against Maryland, who won 3-2.  But fans cheered every time their cousin or neighbor scored.

"It's a dream come true for them.  All of those kids have been playing baseball forever.  So to be at the Little League World Series is just a dream come true," said Abbie Zastawny, a player's neighbor.

Even though the players could not see them, they waved pom poms and got in the spirit.

"When people can get together and celebrate as a community, it just adds a little extra excitement into it," said Beverly Knight, with the Jeffersonville Parks Dept.

Excitement the Jeffersonville Parks Department hopes to repeat, as they host more "watch parties."  Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 2 p.m., fans can watch the games inside the Nachand Fieldhouse.
