Saddlebred horses compete at State Fair

Thousands of the best four-legged athletes are in Louisville competing at the State Fair.

The Saddlebred horses and their trainers practiced early Tuesday morning for the the World's Championship Horse Show at Freedom Hall.

Competitions are going on every day at the Fair.  Some riders and their horses train for years for competition, and some have traveled thousands of miles to Kentucky.

Pat Johnson of the horse show says, ""There are horses literally from around the world here, there's horses that have been imported strictly to do showing and they do wonderfully.  The horse that won the five-gaited championship last year was from South Africa, so they're definitely from all over the world."

Shows are going on every day at 9 in the morning and August 17-23 at 6:30 and 7 in the evening.

All shows are at Freedom Hall.
