Newburg residents voice opinions about future library

Newburg residents are getting the chance to voice their opinion about a new library for their neighborhood.  The $1.5 million library is scheduled to be built by June 30, 2008.

Tuesday night, Newburg residents were shown slides of existing libraries from around the country.  This is the first time the library has sat down with community members of Newburg to get their opinion on what should be included in the new library.

The closest library branch for Newburg residents is in Bon Air.  The new library is among three new regional libraries proposed in the libraries master plan to expand.

Some Metro Council members were expecting those revisions earlier this year.  The library director says there is a need to expand.

Jefferson County does not meet state requirements for the number of books and square footage of library space based on the county's population.
