Some college presidents pushing for lower drinking age

College presidents across the nation are pushing to lower the drinking age.

The president of Indiana's Butler University believes the current law actually encourages binge drinking.  He believes lowering the age to 18 could help erase the thrill of illegal drinking.

He's joined about 100 other college presidents across the country who want to lower the drinking age.  Dr. Bobby Fong says, "What we're calling for at this point is not legislature.  It's not a change of law but a discussion of the merits of how we handle the culture of alcohol in our society."

Some students see no problem with the change, saying they are allowed to vote, buy cigarettes, and join the military at 18.

But Mothers Against Drunk driving is against the move, arguing the number of alcohol-related car crashes would increase.
