A woman arrested for giving her ten-month-old child wine at the State Fair leaves jail

A woman arrested for giving her ten-month-old child wine at the State Fair is out of jail.

40-year-old Kathryn Bowen was released from jail last night on her own recognisance.

She was arrested at Freedom Hall while attending the horse show on Monday night.  She is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

A deputy says he and another officer witnessed the crime.  Maj. Chris Hancock of the Jefferson Co. Sheriff's Dept.  "They observed a woman who was carrying a baby, purchased what appeared to be a glass of wine and placed the contents of that wine into a baby bottle and give it to that baby."

The arrest report says Bowen admitted giving the child the wine to help her sleep.

At last word, Bowen's baby was in state child protective services.  Bowen is from Missouri.
