Keith Kaiser Checks Out the First-Ever IUS Dorms

For the first time ever, Indiana University Southeast students moving into on-campus housing.

The history-making Move-in Day for about 400 students is Thursday, Aug. 21, when IU Southeast's brand new on-campus housing opens to residents.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., students will check in to one of five lodges.

Building meetings will begin after check-in ends, and the first day will end with a campus boogie competition, pitting the new residents in a lodge-to-lodge dance contest.

IU Southeast's five residence halls - Orchard Lodge, Grove Lodge, Woodland Lodge, Meadow Lodge, and Forest Lodge - will house about 400 students, including 10 Community Advisors.

The Offices of Residence Life and Housing and Campus Life have planned several activities for residents during their first weekend on campus. Classes at IU southeast begin on Aug. 25.

Construction on the lodges began in June 2007. A housing dedication ceremony will be held at a later date.
