IU, Purdue presidents decide not to sign petition to lower drinking age to 18

The presidents of Indiana University and Purdue are not joining other college leaders in their call to lower the drinking age.

IU President Michael McRobbie and Purdue President France Cordova both declined to sign a petition to lower the drinking age to 18.

That's even though McRobbie believes that 18-year-olds should be able to legally drink.

More than 100 university leaders across the country have signed the Amethyst Initiative.  It claims the current drinking age of 21 encourages dangerous binge drinking on campus.
