Grade Lane exit ramp re-opens after semi-truck crashes

The Grade Lane exit off Interstate 65 has just re-opened after a crash involving a semi-truck.

Around eight Monday morning, police say the driver of the 18-wheeler was driving south on I-65 when he swerved to avoid hitting a car.

Police say that car stopped suddenly to avoid their own accident.  The woman in that car suffered a wrist or hand injury.

The semi then crossed the median, hit the guardrail, crossed over the Grade Lane exit ramp, and came to rest in a ditch.

The truck crashed into the fence at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base.  Truck driver Roger Burke says, "I went through the first guardrail, crossed onto the exit ramp or secondary road, whatever that is, I just kept waiting for the truck and trailer to turn over because I knew I was going to jack-knife and then it didn't, it stayed upright and drove it through the guardrail and to the bottom of the ditch."

Burke wasn't injured in the crash.
