Pleasure Ridge Park man charged with murdering his wife

A Pleasure Ridge Park man is in jail charged with murdering his wife.  Neighbors say they never noticed any trouble between the couple, but the man charged gave police a very different story.

68-year old William Seidl is in jail at Metro Corrections.  He is charged with one count of murder in the death of his wife, 69-year-old Dorene Seidl.

Residents in the well-kept neighborhood know William Seidl as Jerry, and say there was no indication of any trouble between him and his wife.

Harry Thompson had worked at Ford with Seidl before their retirements.  He said they seemed like a nice couple and he was shocked when he heard about the murder.

And another neighbor, Aaron Carter, called the death, "Shocking, because I talked with him yesterday and he acted like everything was normal.

Carter lives across the street and said he spoke with William Seidl less than an hour before the SWAT team was called to the neighborhood after a 911 call on Monday.

Seidl had refused to leave the house.  But four hours later, he surrendered to police without further incident.  Once inside, police found a handgun and the body of Dorene Seidl.

Carter says William Seidl was a fanatic about his yard:  "They worked out on the yard together, so I didn't think there was no problems over there....because he had been out cutting and she would be doing the flowers, watering the flowers all around."

But a police report says Seidl told them he and his wife had been having problems and that she had come over to get personal items, that he got upset, and shot her numerous times.

An open records check shows police had been called to the Seidl house four previous times.  But neighbors believe Seidl was upset about people walking on his well-manicured lawn.
