600 new American citizens attend naturalization ceremony

More than 600 new people from more than 92 countries became U.S. citizens Friday afternoon.

The ceremony is the largest naturalization ceremony ever held in Kentucky.  Mayor Jerry Abramson delivered a welcoming address and Chief Judge John Heyburn administered the Oath of Allegiance.

The newly-inducted citizens are excited over their chance in a new country.  New citizen Hans Wright explains, "I decided to be American because i think it's the greatest country in the world."

The ceremony kicks off the Worldfest celebration of Louisville's diverse cultures.

After the ceremony, the new citizens walked in a parade to the Belvedere where a reception was held in their honor.
