JCPS moving football, soccer, other competitions to later times

Hot weather and high humidity has Jefferson County Public Schools moving athletic games to later in the evening.

JCPS says practices will continue as scheduled, but some schools may choose to delay those as well.

The decision to delay football, soccer, field hockey, and cross country competitions until 7 p.m. follows the collapse of a middle school runner last week at Atherton High School.

And a PRP High School football player collapsed and later died following football practice.

The National Weather Service recorded the heat index at 95 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday's forecast is similar.
