The former Kentucky transportation secretary and a road contractor are indicted by a federal grand jury for alleged bid-rigging on highway construction projects.

Bill Nighbert and contractor Leonard Lawson have been indicted for receiving federal funds, bribery, and obstruction of justice.  An aide to Lawson was also indicted.

This comes after a year long FBI investigation.

The allegations include that Nighbert and Lawson improperly handled confidential cost estimates on high construction projects in 2006 and 2007.

An assistant U.S. attorney says additional indictments are possible.
