Habitat for Humanity celebrates its 300th home

Habitat for Humanity celebrates the building of its 300th home in 23 years Thursday.

Mayor Jerry Abramson and Congressman John Yarmuth were both on hand to thank volunteers for reaching this milestone.  Mayor Abramson even declared Thursday "Raise the Roof for Habitat for Humanity - 300th House in Louisville" day.

More than 5,000 volunteers have come together through the years to help build these homes.

"It's just another house to me, but's it an honor that it's that one. This is the eighth house in seven years that I've started. And it's just good people, doing a good job, for a good purpose," said volunteer David Maultsby of Louisville.

Habitat for Humanity says it looks forward to celebrating its 600th home.
