A U.S. Senator from Kentucky says he's not on board to allow the Delta Queen to be exempt from fire safety regulations.

Senator Jim Bunning says he'll oppose any exemption because passengers would be exposed to danger.

The historic steamboat faces being docked for good because of a federal act that bans overnight passenger cruises on vessels that have a wooden superstructure.

The exemption for the 82-year-old steamboat has been approved nine times since 1968.

But the current one expires November 1st, unless Congress takes action.
