A Louisville Metro Police officer was injured early Thursday morning in an car accident.

The officer was westbound on Caldwell when a car on Preston Highway T-boned his car.

The officer was responding to a robbery.

Preliminary reports indicate the cruiser did not have its lights or sirens activated.

LMPD says the 4th District officer suffered a head injury and was taken to University Hospital.

The driver of the other car complained of pain but was not taken to a hospital.

The officer's name has not been released, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
