Kentucky health officials warn of contamination in three lakes

You may want to think twice before heading out to the lakes to fish this weekend.

State health officials on Thursday issued a warning that fish caught in Lake Cumberland and two other local bodies of water could be contaminated by mercury.

Mercury is said to cause brain damage in children under six.  It can be passed from expecting mothers to unborn children, and to infants through breast feeding.

Guist Creek Lake in Shelby County and Fish Lake in Ballard County are also among those contaminated.
