State official, contractor, and aide face bid-rigging accusations

A former high-ranking Kentucky state official is due in court Friday to face accusations that he rigged bids for road work.

Former Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert, construction contractor Leonard Lawson, and Lawson's aide Brian Russell Billings were indicted after a year-long FBI investigation.

They face several charges, including conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

They are scheduled to be in Federal Court in Lexington Friday afternoon.
