Three men charged in bid-rigging case plead not guilty

Three men charged in a federal bid-rigging case in Kentucky have pleaded not guilty.

Former Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert, construction contractor Leonard Lawson, and Lawson aide Brian Russell Billings appeared in U.S. District Court in Lexington on Friday to enter the plea.

Charges of conspiracy, misapplication of property and obstruction of justice were filed against the men last week after a yearlong FBI probe into the awarding of state highway construction contracts.
