Jefferson County, Indiana is among several counties that declared a state of emergency because of high winds.

Officials there are concerned about the safety of the Milton-Madison Bridge, which spans the Ohio River between Madison, Indiana and Milton, Kentucky.

They closed the bridge as a precaution after reports that chunks of concrete fell off in the high winds.

The steel bridge was built in the 1920's.  It will remain closed until the Transportation Cabinet can inspect it and declare it safe.
