Power outages leave half-day supply of blood

Because of the power outages, there's only a half-day supply of blood for the area.  The American Red Cross is encouraging people to come and donate blood.

Many of the local blood drives that were operated out of businesses have been cancelled because of power outages.  Right now, donated blood is coming from other communities and elective surgeries have been cancelled.

Loni White of the American Red Cross says this is one of the worst cancellations the organization has seen because of the blood drive cancellations.

You can donate blood at the American Red Cross Wednesday until 3 o'clock at the downtown Louisville location on East Chestnut Street.  You can also go to the Hubbards Lane location and the Clark County Red Cross.

There's also a large blood drive on Friday at the Executive East Hotel from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
