Power restored to 172,000 LG&E customers - WDRB 41 Louisville News

Power restored to 172,000 LG&E customers

Thursday is day number five of darkness for many people in our area after Sunday's wind storm.  301,000 LG&E customers were left without power as the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through on Sunday.

The latest word is that power has been restored to 172,000 customers, more than half the total.  That shows steady progress over the past four days.

But it's hard to get too excited about the successes if you're one of the 129,000 homes and businesses still waiting for the lights and refrigerators and computers to go back on.

Over in southern Indiana, about 40,000 customers are still out of power.  Power could be fully restored in Corydon and Salem by midnight Friday.

Midnight Saturday is the goal to have all customers back online in Clarksville, Jeffersonville, and New Albany.
