One week after windstorm, people still remain in the dark

Nearly one week after the remnants of Hurricane Ike tore through Kentuckiana, less than 52,000 homes are still without power.  But utilities crews continue to work long hours to get the lights back on for everyone.

"There are contractors of every nature from all parts of the country that have come in to be apart of this effort in additions to our own," said Barry Ray, HR manager for E.ON.US.

Crews from across the country have been in town all week working with Louisville Gas and Electric employees.  LG & E says about 60,000 homes are still in the dark, down from a peak of nearly 300,000.

Crews hope to have power restored to everyone by the end of this coming week.  Indiana officials say 94 percent of homes that lost electricity are now back online.
