World Car Free Day highlights public transporation

A Louisville man was riding a bus for 13 hours on Monday just to send you a message.

Monday is World Car Free Day, an effort to highlight public transportation.  It started about a dozen years ago in Europe and is catching on in the U.S.

It's sponsored by CART, Coalition for the Advancement of Regional Transportation.  CART says one in every five households in Louisville does not have a car.

Tim Darst of the organization says he's trying to go 200 miles on TARC buses to show the need for good public transportation.

During his 13-hour bus ride, Darst is taking donations for the Family Scholar House.  So far, he has raised more than $2200.
