Candidates for Indiana governor face off in Jasper

Indiana residents will likely pay more for both gasoline and home heating oil over the next year.  The first question in a governor's debate Tuesday night asked who would suspend the state sales tax on gasoline and other fuels.

Supporters include Democrat Jill Long Thompson.  They believe it would give some temporary relief, despite any loss of money for the state budget.

Incumbent Governor Daniels says a governor does not have the authority to suspend the sales tax, which adds up to 28 cents at $4 a gallon.

Daniels has the lead in several recent polls.  All three debate in Bloomington again next month.
