Tennessee drivers are heading to Kentucky to fill up

With gas shortages in parts of the southeastern United States, drivers are now heading for Kentucky to fill up.

Tennessee residents drove as far as 90 miles just to fill up their tanks in Kentucky.  And one Marathon station in Bowling Green is feeling the rush.

A gas station worker says on a normal day, they fill about 12,000 gallons.  But on Friday they pumped 27,000.  Manager Billy Perry says, "Those folks being out of gas in Nashville and they're coming here, they could very easily run our supply out."

Kentucky's governor has issued an executive order allowing wholesalers to immediately begin distributing gas that usually is sold only during the fall and winter.

The order will expand the state's supply of gasoline to avoid a possible shortage here.
