KY Humane Tips fro Controlling Canine Aggression

Ursa Marr, the Kentucky Humane Society's behavior expert, shares tips on training canine aggression.

Marr recommends the following points on aggression in dogs:

1. Prevention is key - early socialization is a must (as young as 8 weeks)

2. Management - prevent your dog from being exposed to the trigger, as practiced behavior gets stronger

3. Behavior modification - get professional help from a certified trainer using positive reinforcement methods

4. Refrain from punishing - physical punishment will heighten dog's anxiety and make aggression worse
