City leaders approve emergency ordinance after windstorm

City leaders have approved money that will provide aid following last week's wind storm.

Metro Council members overwhelmingly approved an emergency ordinance giving $10,000 to help the Ministry's United South Central Louisville replenish the food and supplies it gave out to those in need.

At the height of the storm's aftermath, more than 300,000 homes were without power. Some for more than a week.

"I just want to make it clear that $10,000 was not for a food hand out. That is for the same type of program that MUSCL has run for the last 25 years in Louisville," said Madonna Flood, (D) Council District.

To apply for this assistance, you can call MUSCL next Monday, September 29th from 1 to 3 in the afternoon.

Those numbers are 363-2383 or 363-9087.

An emergency measure to collect storm debris county-wide following storms was voted down and sent to a committee.
