Jeffersonsville woman to spend ten years behind bars even after murder charges are dropped

A Jeffersonsville woman will spend ten years behind bars even though murder charges are dropped against her.  Jennifer Smith agreed to a plea deal Tuesday.

She was accused of murder, arson, robbery burglary, and tampering with physical evidence.  But the murder charges have now been dropped.

Smith and her boyfriend Dale Moneypenny were accused of stabbing Charles Poynter, then setting his home on fire and stabbing and robbing a second victim, Blaine Thacker.

Moneypenny pleaded guilty earlier this month and will spend life behind bars.
