Mother-Daughter Overcome Breast Cancer Together

Liticia Robbins and Vivian Rakestraw are a mother/daughter team who have battled breast cancer together.

They were diagnosed within months of each other and underwent treatments and recovered together.

The 13th Annual Komen Louisville Race for the Cure is Saturday, October 11 at Waterfront Park.

From 6:45 to 8:15 a.m., race day registration begins, then at 8:15 a.m. its the Parade of Pink Survivor Celebration.

The 5k run begins at 9 a.m., followed by the 1 mile family walk at 9:15 a.m.

Strollers welcome on the Family Fun Walk.

Free Parking in Riverside and Witherspoon Parking Garages.

Participants may register online at the Komen Louisville website, in person at the Shop for the Cure Komen Store located on the 1st floor in Oxmoor Center near Dick's Sporting Goods, or through the mail by picking up a Race brochure at area Kroger locations and miscellaneous businesses in the area.

The race started in Dallas, Texas in 1982, and today the Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.
