Inside University Hospital's Mobile Mammography Unit

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and University Hospital's Mobile Mammography Unit has been going around our community in an effort to get people tested for breast cancer.

Technicians use the latest digital technology to detect lumps in the breast that could turn out to be cancer.

According to University, each year approximately 6-thousand women get a mammogram in units like this one.

Mammograms are recommended for women 40 years old and older.

Most insurance carriers cover annual mammograms at 40 years old.

For those without insurance, there is no cost to eligible women.

Mammograms will be offered throughout the next few months ar various locations.
