19-year-old runs for school board in Austin, IN

In southern Indiana, voters will have to decide if they want to elect a teenager to office.  It's energizing the Austin school board election.  Stephen Riley says despite his age, he's the right person for the job.

Riley has spent $600 getting his name out for the Austin school board election.  He has buttons with his picture, yard signs, and he's turning to the website Facebook.

At just 19 years old, Stephen is a full-time Hanover College student.  He graduated from Austin High School last year, and feels since he knows the school well, he has fresh ideas on making the district better.

He says some of his friends ask him what he's doing, and admits it's been "kind of funny," and not something 19-year-olds plan to do after high school.

One of his biggest supporters is his mom.  She says Riley had perfect attendance for his whole 13-year school career in Austin, and knows what's best for the city.

Billie Riley says her son feels as if Austin gave him his education and he wants to give back to the school.

Riley loves politics, which is no surprise.  He's majoring in political science.
