Louisville Zoo tiger dies

One of the most popular residents at the Louisville Zoo has died.  Amur tiger Sinda, who just turned 17 last month, died Tuesday morning.

17 is considered to be geriatric for big cats.

Sinda was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of oral cancer for a cat.  Due to the tumor size and location, it was considered inoperable.

The condition made it painful for her to move and affected her eating, so zoo staff made the decision to euthanize her.
