Amber Alert child, mother return to Kentucky

Athena Fritz and her two-year-old daughter, Breanna Woodside, are back home in Kentucky.

They arrived about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, after a long day that first saw Fritz reunited with her daughter in Laredo, Texas.

Brenna was the subject of an Amber Alert through the weekend.  Police say her father, Miles Woodside, took the child from Frankfort, through Alabama, Tennessee, and eventually to Mexico between Saturday and Tuesday.

Police in Monterrey, Mexico, found father and daughter and arranged both Woodside's transfer to U.S. Marshals and the child's return to her mother.

Family and friends cheered as Fritz and Breanna descended from an escalator at the airport.

Woodside faces several federal and state charges that are likely to include unlawful flight from prosecution and custodial interference.

Fritz told reporters she expects to gain full custody of Breanna after what's happened.

The child was not injured in the incident.
