Free state park entry for Indiana foster families

Foster families in Indiana can get free annual entrance passes to state parks. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources offers them to qualified foster families. To get a free state park pass, all you have to do is fill out a form by clicking here and emailing it to PermitApplication@dnr.IN.gov

LMAS Drive-thru Microchip Clinic

Louisville Metro Animal Services will host a $10 drive-thru microchip clinic on Sunday, May 17, from 1-3:30 p.m. for Jefferson County residents. 

The clinic will be held at 3528 Newburg Road. Participants must be in line by 3:30 p.m., and register online in advance. Payment is required at the time of service. To register, click here.

Derby City Chamber Music Festival

The Derby City Chamber Music Festival returns in May for the fifth season. There will be three concerts at Second Presbyterian Church at 3701 Old Brownsboro Road on May 17, 19 and 21.

The performances are free to attend but have a suggested donation of $40 for adults and $10 for students. Seats can be reserved in advance online.

Kentucky "I Voted" Sticker Contest

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams invites Kentucky students from kindergarten to 12th grade to send in their best design for an "I Voted" sticker. The winning sticker design will be given to voters in participating counties during the November election.

To be considered, pictures must be original work, include the words "I Voted," and be in JPEG or PNG format. Submit your design by May 29 at 5 p.m. EST, and include the student's name, school, address and phone number. The final designs will be on a ballot for people to vote on during the 2026 Kentucky State Fair. To submit a design, click here.

Free Hepatitis-C testing in Louisville

The Louisville Metro Health Department is offering tests for Hepatitis-C.

Testing is available 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

It is free and you do not need an I.D. to get tested.

Health officials collect the blood samples by finger-stick, and results are available within an hour.

Bullitt County Sheriff Ranch camp

The Bullitt County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the Kentucky Sheriff's Association Boys and Girls Ranch Camp. It's for ages 8-11.

Girls Camp dates are from June 29-July 2 and the boys camp begins on July 6. It's free to attend and transportation is handled by the sheriff's office.

Wildlife Photography Workshop

Are you interested in wildlife photography? The Louisville Zoo and Murphy's Camera are teaming up for an event on Saturday, May 16 from 9-11 a.m. Tickets cost $60 non‑members / $40 members — includes all‑day Zoo admission. It's designed for teens and adults with little to no wildlife photography experience

You will learn:

  • Camera basics, the exposure triangle, composition
  • How to make the most of natural light
  • Tips from Zoo staff on animal behaviors and action‑shot opportunities

Jeffersonville Animal Shelter is asking for donations and supplies. The shelter needs cat litter, wet and dry cat food, kitten wet and dry food, kitten formula, puppy food, leashes, medium, large and x-large collars and slip leads. Donations can be dropped off or shipped to the shelter at 201 Willinger Lane in Jeffersonville. 

Scam Alert Website

There is a new tool to help keep Kentuckians safe from scammers. The state's Administrative Office of the Courts launches a new scam alert website with common signs of a scam and resources to verify court information and report one.
